About Me
When Kristin S. Peña, M.D. first began considering her career options, medicine was her top choice. “Prior to medical school, I was always fascinated by the life sciences and active in volunteerism. So medicine seemed like the perfect fit,” she says. “In medical school, I loved all of the different specialties which is what drew me to Family Medicine. We are able to treat people of all ages, treat illnesses related to all different body systems, and focus on prevention of disease.”
Dr. Pena says her philosophy of care is to gather information and truly listen to patient concerns. She assesses and makes recommendations so patients can make informed choices about their own health. “I am very open to non-Western forms of healing and empowering the body to heal itself,” she notes. Dr. Pena gets great satisfaction when solving a clinical challenge or diagnostic dilemma, but also enjoys teaching patients about their bodies and empowering them to improve their own health.
A Colorado native, Dr. Pena has lived in California since 2001 and loves her adopted state. When she is not practicing medicine, Dr. Pena is an avid tennis player, hiker, traveler and also loves yoga, quilting, knitting, and reading. “I love exploring new cities and cultures and enjoy spending time with my husband and adult daughter.”
