Khang T Nguyen, MD

Dr. Khang T. Nguyen is a board-certified, fellowship-trained plastic surgeon who specializes in breast reconstruction surgery at the MemorialCare Todd Cancer Institute.

He received his medical degree from the Feinberg School of Medicine at Northwestern University and completed residency in integrated plastic surgery at Northwell Health. He then completed a fellowship in reconstructive microsurgery at the University of Pennsylvania. He is board-certified in plastic surgery by the American Board of Plastic Surgery.

Dr. Nguyen’s research interests include wound healing and tissue regeneration, breast reconstruction, and aesthetic surgery and he has been published extensively in peer-reviewed journals. His wound healing research was awarded the Anita Roberts Award for Best Research Article by the Wound Healing Society. Additionally, Dr. Nguyen has performed hundreds of breast reconstruction surgeries with abdominal and thigh tissue transfer (DIEP and PAP flaps) which combine cosmetic body contouring surgery with microsurgical techniques to help restore the appearance and confidence of women overcoming breast cancer.

He is passionate about helping patients make informed choices that lead to ideal outcomes. He strives to make highly technical procedures approachable for all patients, so that they are confident in their decision to undergo surgery.

Outside of his responsibilities at the Todd Cancer Institute, Dr. Nguyen enjoys spending time with his family and being the taste-tester for his wife's baking experiments.
