About Me

Inchel Yeam, MD found his passion for medicine when he was a freshman in college. At the time, he was working part-time at a local hospital as a nurse's aide and found a particular interest in working with other medical professionals. After realizing how much his work impacted patients for the better, he decided to fully pursue a career in healthcare.

Later in his career, Dr. Yeam became fascinated with breathing and mechanical ventilation, where he learned that there are both physical and psychological aspects of breathing. He was particularly interested in the differences between breathing while awake and asleep, which led to his career as a pulmonologist and sleep specialist.

After 25 years of medical practice, I realize that health care is not just science and technology. There are tremendous psychological and emotional components to our health.

Dr. Yeam approaches his care with a patient-centered philosophy. While many patients come to him for a quick, simple solution, he strives to give his honest opinions even if it goes against perceptions of common practice. On occasion, he will incorporate non-traditional approaches to care when he trusts that it is in the patient's best interest. He believes that commercialism has largely clouded our view of health, so he tries his best to present facts in clear and understandable ways for his patients.

Health begins by having a good balance in your daily life. If someone is sick due to sleep deprivation, then the answer is rest and sleep. It is certainly not more pills or surgery. Both the body and the mind heal during sleep.

Dr. Yeam was ten years old when his family moved to the United States. He spent the majority of his childhood in Orange County and attended both Irvine High School and University of California Irvine. He eventually went on to University of Chicago where he earned his medical doctorate degree.

When he is not working with patients, Dr. Yeam enjoys bike riding in the hills or down the coast. He also loves being outdoors and goes backpacking as often as the weather permits.

As a specialty physician, Dr. Yeam may not be selected as a primary care physician under HMO health plans. He accepts patients age 12 and older.
