About Me

Dr. Charles Raker is a board-certified interventional radiologist who specializes in interventional oncology at the MemorialCare Imaging Center at Long Beach Medical Center.

His clinical interests include catheter directed cancer therapies; transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shut (TIPS); percutaneous ablation of soft tissue tumors; kyphoplasty for pain management; and treatment of pain related to peripheral vascular disease.

Dr. Raker graduated from University of Arizona School of Medicine with honors from Alpha Omega Alpha, followed by a residency program in diagnostic radiology at University of Colorado School of Medicine. He completed a fellowship in vascular and interventional radiology at UCLA and earned a Certificate of Added Qualification (CAQ) in vascular and interventional radiology. Dr. Raker is board certified in both interventional radiology and diagnostic radiology.

As interventional oncologic techniques for diagnosing & treating abnormalities expand, Dr. Raker works with specialists in a multi-disciplinary approach. He finds satisfaction knowing these therapies can both treat and prolong survival for his patients.

“I am honored to be part of the MemorialCare Todd Cancer Institute treatment team. Interventional oncology allows me to practice medicine with a holistic approach. I am part of a larger team treating the disease, as well as respecting the spiritual and cultural needs of the patient. We offer cutting-edge therapies to be most aggressive while safe. I am grateful to be part of the MemorialCare Todd Cancer Institute vision of cancer treatment excellence.”

Dr. Raker is an active member of the Society of Interventional Radiology (SIR), and the American College of Radiology (ACR).

He enjoys adventures with his children, water polo, distance running and naps.
